The Mountainview International Christian School (MICS) soccer teams experienced mixed results in the annual IISSAC (Indonesian International Small School Activity Conference) soccer tournament, held this year at Wesley International School, in the city of Malang East Java.  Schools from Bali, Surabaya, and Bandung also participated.

 In incredibly competitive matches, both the boys’ and girls’ MICS teams advanced to the semi-final rounds, where both games were decided by a “sudden death” shoot out.  The girls’ team unfortunately fell to the Bali girls’ team by a score of 4 to 3, with seven girls shooting.  Sara Grymrk, Kelsey Linegar, and Verena Pachler all scored for MICS. 

The boys’ team fared better, beating the Bali boys’ team, which had defeated them earlier in the seeding round 1-0, by a shoot out score of  7-6.  Ha Ram Kang, Tim Thornton, Sun Joon Hwang, Josh Gmyrek, Han Ju Lee, Josh Ortega, and Isaac Oberlin, all scored in the shoot out.  Sun Ho Hwang also scored earlier in regulation play, as well as Ha Ram Kang and Tim Thornton.  The boys’ team later lost in the finals to Wesley, 1-0.
