FAST FACTS

Accreditation

Mountainview is affiliated and is currently in the process of becoming accredited with the Association of Christian Schools, International.

Community and School

Mountainview was founded as the Central Java Inter-Mission School in 1981 to serve the families of expatriates living in Indonesia, primarily those involved in the work of various service organizations. See our History page for details.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on the American school system, with a Christian world view and emphasis and using books from both Christian and secular publishers. According to one of our school “distinctives,” we prepare students to enter the North American higher education system, although many of our graduates go on successfully to universities in Korea, India, Australia, Taiwan, and other countries. While our classes are challenging enough to provide a strong preparation for higher education, we also provide assistance for students with learning differences, and we use a variety of assessments and instructional methodologies in order to meet different students’ needs. Under the Curriculum link, you may view our Elementary Classroom at a Glance or our Secondary Grade Level at a Glance.

Enrollment

Mountainview International Christian School is a K-12 boarding and day school with a current enrollment of approximately 180 students from a number of countries and backgrounds, with the largest number of representatives from the United States, Korea and India.  Our elementary school includes roughly 40% of our students in grades K-6, and the rest of the students attend secondary school, grades 7-12. See our Profile page for details.

Faculty

Our faculty is comprised of dedicated Christian teachers who love young people and are willing to give of themselves to equip them for life. Most of our teachers come from the United States, with a few from other English-speaking countries or from Indonesia (especially for Indonesian language and culture classes). Mountainview is committed to a teacher : student ratio of 1:10 or better. See our Staff Profiles pages for more information about our current faculty.

Grading

The upper elementary and secondary grade levels use a typical American grading system of A (excellent), B (good), C (average), D (poor) and F (failing). Mountainview offers a Standard Diploma as well as a Merit Diploma for students who are successful in a strong college preparatory program. For details of our grading scale, graduation requirements and other academic information, see the Grading Scale / Credits / Diploma link under the Student menu.
