Student Athletes Student-athletes represent Christ, their parents and their school in an extracurricular setting and are thus held to a high code of conduct. It is a privilege to participate in athletics at M.I.C.S. This privilege comes with a great deal of responsibility. We expect every student-athlete to demonstrate respect, kindness, responsibility and self-control at all times at all school related programs, activities and events both on and off campus. Please be aware that the following infractions will carry a penalty or consequence at the discretion of the coach: • Unexcused absence from practice • Poor/rude attitude in school or on the team • Inappropriate behavior on or off the field • Poor grades • Any violation of the rules set out in the Student Handbook. The IISSAC code of conduct governs all of the conference events; however, where it does not cover the above requirements, the M.I.C.S. code will automatically be applied. STUDENT-ATHLETE PRIORITIES As a student-athlete at M.I.C.S., a certain amount of commitment is required of you towards your chosen sport. The following priorities must be followed. 1. God – Our number one priority, not only in sports but in all our life. You are expected to maintain your walk with Christ through prayer, fellowship and Bible reading/devotions. Our aim is to Glorify Him in all that we do. 2. Family – Commitment to family is second only to commitment to God. No games or practices will be scheduled during family weekends. 3. School – To pursue academic excellence is part of the vision statement of our school. You must maintain the grades set out in the student hand book with regards to eligibility. 4. Your chosen sport – Be it basketball, soccer, volleyball or swimming, everything else must come after this during the season. That means any unplanned events or trips (not including family or academic activities) should only be participated in if they do not interfere with practice or games.
